Unlocking DOD Funding for University Researchers

This course is now live.

Since leaving my position as a program manager at the U.S. Army Research Office, helping PIs have success with DOD funding has been a top priority. In fact, it was a priority when I was still there. Getting more talented researchers engaged with the DOD research enterprise is crucial to our success as a nation.

I’m now developing resources to help PIs do just that. Our video course Unlocking DOD Funding for University Researchers is a comprehensive presentation — but even at 3 hours and 20 minutes it’s still just an overview. There is only so much time one can spend on these topics without making each its own course. But we have to start somewhere.

Unlocking DOD Funding covers:

  1. Why Consider DOD Funding (17 min)

  2. The DOD Approach to Funding (25 min)

  3. DOD Funding Organizations (50 min)

  4. DOD Programs (36 min)

  5. How to Search for DOD Funding (18 min)

  6. How to Learn what DOD has Funded (10 min)

  7. Connecting with People at DOD (25 min)

  8. Taking the Next Steps (16 min)

There are three important ‘keys’ embedded in the course:

🔑 How DOD funding can be easier to win than funding at other agencies

🔑 How to identify and connect with DOD scientists and engineers who are ready to engage and collaborate

🔑 The key to winning large DOD awards

The course is free; accessing it requires only entering your email address and answering two quick questions about your current role and discipline. The provided email address will be added to our Wise Investigator Newsletter list, but — please, don’t worry — current Newsletter subscribers will continue to receive only one ‘copy’ each week. 🙂

I invite you to access the course and to share with colleagues who could benefit as well.

Today knowledge has power. It controls access to opportunity and advancement.

⏱️ Spots Remaining!

To celebrate getting this course out there and the start of summer, I’m doing something I’ve never done before and offering a limited number of (paid) one-hour, one-on-one meetings. These meetings are for PIs who have questions or need advice on current funding-related issues. You do not need to be a current Wise Investigator client to take advantage of this offer.

I’m not a fan of quick-fix approaches to funding, but I also recognize the value in mixing things up and testing new ways to help PIs access the resources and support they need.

If this is something you are interested in, please sign up soon because on June 11th I will announce the course and meeting availability on LinkedIn.
